Ac-Di-Sol® SD - 711
Chemical Name:
Croscarmellose Sodium
CAS Number:
74811-65-7
Dosage Form:
Effervescent Tablets, Tablets, Capsules, Granules, Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODTs)
Certifications & Compliance:
Japan Pharmacopeia (JP), European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur.)
Manufacturing Technology:
Dry Granulation, Extrusion, Wet Granulation, Granulation, Direct Compression
Ac-Di-Sol® Croscarmellose Sodium is an internally cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose. It is the super disintegrant of choice for many immediate release formulations. Ac-Di-Sol® is an insoluble and hydrophilic polymer with excellent water uptake and rapid swelling properties; supporting faster disintegration and drug dissolution at lower use levels (2-3%). Ac-Di-Sol® can be used in all manufacturing processes, including higher shear wet granulation, fluid bed granulation, direct compression, and dry granulation. Besides its disintegrating properties, Ac-Di-Sol® Croscarmellose Sodium has good binding and compaction properties.

Avicel® PH - 102
Chemical Name:
Cellulose, Microcrystalline
CAS Number:
9004-34-6
Functions:
Filler, Compression Aid, Binder
Microcrystalline Cellulose is purified, partially depolymerized cellulose prepared by treating alpha cellulose obtained as a pulp from fibrous plant material with mineral acids. Several grades of Avicel® PH MCC are available varying in particle size distribution, density and moisture content. Avicel® PH microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is most often used as a filler, disintegrant, flow aid, and dry binder for tablets and capsules. Avicel® PH-102 has a typical average particle size of 100 µm and moisture content between 3 and 5%. Avicel® PH-102 is primarily used for direct compression, and dry granulation/roller compaction. The particle size of Avicel® PH-102 provides good flow characteristics. When compressed, Avicel® PH MCC undergoes plastic deformation. The strength of MCC tablets results from hydrogen bonding between the plastically deformed, large surface area cellulose particles. MCC is recognized as the most compactable of any direct compression excipient.

Avicel® PH - 301
Chemical Name:
Cellulose, Microcrystalline
CAS Number:
9004-34-6
Dosage Form:
Effervescent Tablets, Tablets, Capsules, Granules, Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODTs)
Certifications & Compliance:
Japan Pharmacopeia (JP), European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur.)
Manufacturing Technology:
Dry Granulation, Wet Granulation, Direct Compression

Several grades of Avicel® PH MCC are available varying in particle size distribution, density and moisture content. Avicel® PH microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is most often used as a filler, disintegrant, flow aid, and dry binder for tablets and capsules. Avicel® PH-301 has a typical average particle size of 50 µm with a high bulk density of approximately 0.4 g/cc, compared to 0.3 g/cc for most other Avicel® grades. Avicel® PH-301 is primarily used for high shear wet granulation and direct compression. The high bulk density provides increased flowability resulting in improved blending characteristics and tablet uniformity. The high density also helps improve consistency and throughput of the capsule filling process.

Avicel® PH - 105
Chemical Name:
Cellulose, Microcrystalline
CAS Number:
9004-34-6
Functions:
Compression Aid, Binder
Microcrystalline Cellulose is purified, partially depolymerized cellulose prepared by treating alpha cellulose obtained as a pulp from fibrous plant material with mineral acids. Several grades of Avicel® PH MCC are available varying in particle size distribution, density and moisture content. Avicel® PH microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is most often used as a filler, disintegrant, flow aid, and dry binder for tablets and capsules. Avicel® PH-105 has a typical average particle size of 20 µm and moisture content of not more than 5%. Avicel® PH-105 is primarily used in small amounts (5-10%) with other Avicel® MCC grades, like Avicel® PH-102 and PH -101, to boost tensile strength of a tablet. Avicel® PH-105 has smallest particle size thus increasing cellulose surface area for hydrogen bonding resulting in most compactable of the Avicel® PH products.
